Abstract
In the course of breeding new ornamental types of Hibiscus syriacus L., cross-pollination were made among introduced, native and tetraploid clones. The crossing possibility with H. rosa-sinensis was also examined.
Intraspecific crossing in H. syriacus (single¡¿single, and single¡¿double) showed considerable seed setting and germination irrespective of either native or introduced clones, but double¡¿double combinations failed to germinate in spite of seed setting, Crossing diploid H. syriacus with H. rosa-sinensis was not possible regardless of their flower types, and tetraploids. H. syriacus¡¿H. rosa-sinensis combination produced sterile seeds. Growth vigor of F©û plants (native¡¿introduced clones) showed no distinctive relation to their parents.
